About the bikelog
There are many ways to track biking mileage and progress; this is another one.
I wanted to get back to commuting by bike this year (2005) and keep track of my progress as i went. Specifically, i wanted to not only track mileage, but how many miles of car usage i could replace by biking. By writing my own program for this, i could keep it on the web, where i'd be more likely to update it (from home and work), and i could get the sort of commuting info i wanted. And change it whenever i wanted, brah!
Inspired in part by Oil is for Sissies, the Icebike list, and the Sibley Bike Depot.
The mileage and average speed calculators are set for the entire current year. The commuting gas & money calculations apply only to rides flagged as commutes, so the commute ride type is used for any ride that is replacing a trip that would otherwise require dino fuel.
In Historical view, the columns are re-sortable by clicking the up/down arrows. There are several todo items, one of which is to spin off the various reports on to their own page so historical view is just a long list of rides again.
This app has been tested with Solaris 9/PHP 5/MySQL 4 and with Mac OS X/PHP 4 & 5 (entropy package)/MySQL 3 & 4, and should generally work with variations on those. I'd be happy to send this for your own personal use if you like, but I make no warranty, etc. as to blah blah blah, you know the drill.
