spring cleaning the fleet

This is what happens when i’m not riding enough:

Black & red diamond weave on the bottom, rim tape on the top with a long twine finish because the rim tape wasn’t quite long enough.
Actually, it’s spring cleaning time for some of the bikes, and the Surly was first up. I didn’t treat it with framesaver it when it was new, so i stripped the frame down and did it last weekend. I’m going to do the same to the Rivendell, but since the Surly is a singlespeed now, it was an easier job. The bar tape on this bike was in shreds and came off in pieces. I might give this tape job a couple of coats of shellac so it lasts a little longer.

Said in the best possible way…
Fugly.
Looks like a handlebar that got into a bar fight and then went to the ER at 3:32am and got a cast applied by an underpaid janitor.
But…
if it pleases you, I’m glad [and nauseated].

That’s an affront to all that is good in the world.
