an innertube wallet

My wallet was stolen a couple of weeks ago, and being the cheap bastard i am, i made myself a replacement from a blown mountain bike tube. It’s just glued together with rubber cement, but so far it’s holding up well.

I wonder if sewing with a light strong cord would work

I don’t have any sort of drawing or anything, i just laid out a couple of strips of rubber and measured against a dollar bill. Leave a little margin, scuff the rubber (like you’re patching a hole) and glue together. Likewise with the pocket patches, just make a rubber piece the size you want, trim and glue.

b – a whip stitch at the corners would probably keep that seam stable, i’ll see how it holds up.

There are lots of examples of pretty nice sewn rubber wallets around, but having no machine i just stuck with glue.
